Stejna Mix

The iPad mixer app built for playing live: just the faders you need tonight, every effect redesigned, and your snapshots always on screen.

Works with Midas MR18 and Behringer XR18 / X18. Requires iPadOS 16 or later.

Features

Built for playing live

  • Perform mode: just the faders you need tonight. Playing as a duo? Put your two vocals and two guitars in a group, and that's all on screen: up to eight big faders with large Mute and Solo keys, and nothing to scroll past. Keep up to four named groups ready, e.g. "Duo", "Full band" or "Monitors", each holding any mix of channels, Aux, effect returns, buses, effect sends or DCAs. A stereo pair becomes one strip.
  • A dedicated meter bridge. Above the perform faders, or full screen with one tap: your levels, clear and at a glance.
  • Everything at your fingertips. The information you need sits on the screen you're on, with far less scrolling and digging through pages.
  • Global tap tempo. A TAP key is on screen on every page, flashing on the beat and showing the BPM.
    • Every delay follows it.
    • A newly loaded delay starts at the current tempo.
    • The tempo survives snapshot recalls.
    • SYNC lets one delay keep its own time, e.g. a fixed slapback.
  • Snapshots always on screen. Big previous / next keys, and a GO key that lights when a different snapshot is selected. The display shows the number and name.
  • Snapshot recall scope. It remembers your choices, so a new snapshot starts with your usual scope instead of everything ticked.
  • No confirmation dialogs for live actions. Changing an effect, inserting it and recalling a snapshot all happen at once.
  • 0 dB detent on every fader. A small zone around unity, so 0 dB is easy to hit and hold by touch.
  • Selected-strip summary. A display beside every page shows gain, gate, EQ, compressor, fader and pan at a glance. Tap a line to jump to that page.

Effects

  • Every one of the 61 effects redesigned as a hardware-style face.
    • A display shows what the effect is doing: the reverb's decay, the echo taps, the stereo delay's routing, the modulation sweep, the compressor curve.
    • Knob scales are printed with the mixer's real values.
    • Stepped settings show every choice.
    • Every parameter is labelled with its unit.
    • Each reverb type has its own display colour.
  • Live per-band gain reduction on the Combinator, with all three meter modes.
  • Effects in folders, alphabetised. Instead of one long list of 61 effects, they're grouped by category (reverbs, delays, modulation, EQs, dynamics, enhancers, amps, pitch) and sorted A to Z, with one tap per folder. Quick to find at a gig.
  • Graphic EQ response curve. The Graphic EQ effects show their curve above the 31 faders, and the Main LR and bus graphic EQs draw it right over their faders, in front of the analyser: the EQ's shape and the live spectrum together, for ringing out wedges.
  • Insert routing. One Insert key per effect, from channels, buses or Main LR, with a warning when an insert isn't doing anything.

Look and feel

  • The whole iPad screen, edge to edge. No empty band along the bottom: the mixer fills the iPad's full height, and the extra room becomes longer faders. The bigger the iPad, the longer the faders.
  • A vintage vacuum-fluorescent-display look throughout. Meters, the analyser and the effect displays glow like classic studio hardware.
  • A modern colour scheme.
  • Two themes, dark and daylight.
  • Numbered, colour-coded send levels. The send bars at the top of every strip are numbered (buses 1 to 6 in blue, effects 1 to 4 in amber), so you always know which send you're looking at.
  • Colour language. Strips coloured as you named them, mute groups unmistakable.
  • Clip indicators. A red clip zone on every meter, with an adjustable hold.
  • Gate and compressor meters that read the full range, and gain reduction from the first decibel.
  • Clear dialogs that ask a plain question instead of showing alarming warnings.

Shows and files

  • Scene loading with a preview. You see exactly what will change before anything is written. Levels go down before anything comes up, it never turns on 48 V, and it can't touch network settings.
  • New show. A true clean slate for the next band: names, colours, processing, sends, faders, stereo links, effects, perform groups and User windows all reset, while your patching, gains and snapshots stay. Made for clubs with a different band every night.
  • Shows keep their perform groups. Saving a show also keeps its perform groups, User windows and tap tempo, and loading it brings them back.
  • M-AIR Edit's scene files open directly.
  • Channel presets (all, gate, compressor, EQ, sends) and effect presets: save and load.
  • Copy and paste between channels by section, with the copied channel shown on the Copy key.

Safety nets

  • USB-return warning. An amber banner when a channel is listening to USB instead of its mic.
  • Connection guard. A banner and automatic reconnect if the Wi-Fi drops; the meters resubscribe themselves.
  • Network settings locked against stray touches, and they can't be changed mid-show by accident.
  • Stereo link asks first. The link key names its pair ("Link 7-8") and explains that the mixer will copy one channel onto the other, so a stray tap can't quietly overwrite a channel.
  • Finds the mixer by itself on the network.

Also complete

  • In/Out patching with quick-patch presets and Ultranet.
  • RTA.
  • User windows showing your own channel names.
  • DCA spill.
  • Editable MIDI setup, e.g. DIN Rx for MIDI delay throws.
  • Solo on every strip.
  • Channel ON buttons.

Works with Midas MR18 and Behringer XR18 / X18. MR12, XR12 and XR16 are planned for a later version.
